So America won the August bash....For the second time aswell.

But it's a clean slate now.

What happened on the First Close Encounter?

1. Mink #5 UK. Go go go Mink....was sprinting so fast even mos623 could'nt haul you in!

2. mos623 #1 USA Fated never to get Three In A Row. Isn't that a tad irritating?

3. Sallyannh #9 UK One of the UK Invincibles. Ranked.....so it's fact.

4. j2cp2 USA Unranked? Good for you! You just have to muscle everyone aside.

5. midgetmark #2 UK Ah...it's you again. Hankering to get your speed record back?

Well considering the questions were set at difficult it did'nt seem to slow any of you down too much. I reckon the standard of play here is getting higher.

Any new recruits...keen to join in at the beginning of months play...

We had 2 new states join in from America. Time for another flag finding foray for me then.

Hello to not_me...yep...that's the name you read it right.... and shadowzep and bevo who've come to bolster the USA ranks.

And howdy to sparklingwine for the UK team. Best time to join...beginning of the month.

Leaves plenty of time to get battered and bruised and demoralized and then spring back into action.

Right...the way I see it there's a few players to watch out for this month...and they're not all ranked or award winners because they were relative newcomers last month.

A word about rankings...if you were wondering what these funny # symbols are behind some of the names. No...I was'nt just feeling creatively inspired and arty....Heck..these are the Great Ones...the Invincibles....the ones to go and rugby tackle. They're the top ten players from each team. I've flagged them so the rest of you can target them.

Oh yes...and in addition to the team scrap there's now 4 individual awards up for grabs.

So far....mos623 #1 is Reigning Champ and won Most Outstanding Player award MOP, for last month. He also tied with miffy42 #1 for the Daily Dervish award.

There are still 2 individual awards he has not managed to filch yet .

Fastest Finger is still in the possession of Triviaballer #5....and

Three In A Row....no one has yet managed to match hovenaut since July. Tut tut.

But I'll tell you who I've got a beady eye on.

A few players look very interesting and potential threats to the Americans. I'm talking about OldSpotPig....Howie72 #3.....thereds4ever and wakazawaka. Let's see if they can swing it for the UK this month.

After mos623 #1...WorldB #3 and peachy_1 #2 look pretty darn dangerous in the USA team.

And a special mention for MaggieG #4. Get this! After securing a spot in the Hall of Flame in July...despite a stampede of new competitors....with numbers rising from 40 to 167 ...she's still there in the Hall of Flame.

Well Done! No other player can claim that!

Right I'm off now to go hoist a flag for Idaho and Pennsylvania. Never realized before just how many state flags are blue!
