How the winner is calculated

I'm using the blog for this as that itsy bitsy shoutbox on the quiz is too small.

Clamking: 5545/8 US players=693, 6014/10 UK=601.
On the article before this one I wrote, for the Titan August result
The USA fielded a crack squad of 8 worthy warriors, nabbed 5545 points = 48%
Oh dear ... alarm bells are ringing ....
The UK & Co fielded an even better pack of sharp shooters,10 of them, grabbed 6014 points = 52%.
This result made a UK win.
How is it calculated?
I add the total of each armies points. I divide by how many players. I then multiply by how many days were played in the month for that armies total score.
These are the figures quoted in the posted results ... though I only post the final score and not all the stages of the maths to keep it chatsy and fun.
The percentage is based on that.
Or with all the sums ... for August Titans
USA earned 1431 points divided by 8 players then multiplied by 31 days in the month of August. This sum = 5545.
UK & Co earned 1940 points divided by 10 players then multiplied by 31 days in the month of August.
This sum = 6014.
The winner is the UK ... the greater number of points.
I just convert it into a percentage as well becasue I'm a penguin so like to think of it as pie cut into larger and smaller portions.
Now ... you might wonder why I don't just take an armies total points irrespective of how many play for their country?
Calculated that way a much larger team could easily win by swamping the other side and win by sheer weight of numbers.
But ... as we all know in war .... it's not always the larger army who wins. It's the calibre of the individual soldiers. A smaller army can win if it is better.
So .. to be fair .. it was decided at the start of the war, four years ago, to take the average score of each whole army.
This way every single point earned by every single player is critical to a teams success.
It makes it a team effort ... which fits with the fun and team spirit of it all.

The Challenge
The USA fielded 28 players, snatched 8283 points = 48% of the spoils of war.
The UK & Co fielded 22 players, snatched 9005 points = 52% of the spoils of war.
UK you did it! Even without your most magnificent General jules44 you romped to glory with a 4% lead. In June and July the USA won .... so does this mean their reign or terror has ended?
The Titans
The USA fielded a crack squad of 8 worthy warriors, nabbed 5545 points = 48%

The UK & Co fielded an even better pack of sharp shooters, 10 of them, grabbed 6014 points = 52%.
Wow ... USA domination has been smashed ... the trenches are bloody ... the USA limp away defeated .... but what a fabulous battle!
The UK & Co army won the August Titan by 4%.
Stand at ease troopers ... and someone crack open the champagne!
The Mogul
The guillotine is well oiled .... and remember, it's the snappiest runners who can limbo dance under it in 60 secs and get all 10 right who bag the bonus points for their country.
The USA shot under and snatched 2980 bonus goodies .. which is good. ... = 45.5%
But the UK refuse to be beaten on this one .... they wriggled under like grease lightning and bagged 3560 points to add to the Uk arsenal = 54.5 %
Once again the UK & Co win the August Mogul with a 9% lead.
The Survivor
The USA grabbed 2580 points before Piranha devoured them = 40.6%
Hmm ... does Piranha find Americans more tasty I ask myself?
The Uk & Co snatched 3780 points before maceration in the mighty maw = 59.4%
The UK & Co win the August Survivor by 18.8%
I'm sorry USA ... I don't really need my high-tech abacus to work this one out.
Grab the consolation prize .... a box of mansize tissues. Use them well ... ball them up and use them as cannon shot!
Final Score ... 4 battles = 1 war.
The USA = 45.5%
The UK & Co = 54.5%
A crate of champagne to the UK & Co army who win Augusts war by 9%
