Hello human warriors and friends from a peaceful pacifist Penguin....
After last months interruption to our monthly report from HQ where I was locked in my bomb shelter ... I am pleased to say I am back. In the interim I have laundered and ironed the two fantastic flags of our two combatants .. the Stars & Stripes and the Union Jack.... though I might add that the clouds of moths gave me a sneezing fit!
So .. on to the nitty gritty serious stuff of warfare and the ongoing fight for world domination! Who won Octobers war?
The Challenge
My American buddies fielded 20 tough heroes and heroines and grabbed 8061 pts, or spoils of war = 46%
My UK & Commonwealth mates, all 19 of the worthy fighters, bagged 9562, or more of the spoils = 54%
Yes! The unconquerable woad wearers won the October Challenge battle by a convincing 8%.
I find I have to make mention of two great Generals here .. for super humans always earn my acclaim.
First ... the wondrous jules44 who led the UK army to victory once again ... yes, she with the sparks flying off her heels as she sprints through the war torn trenches. Yes .. we all fear her, even I. But also I raise my flippers to lead a round of applause for America's new top General ... RJ.
Well done! The USA already has many fine warriors .... so can one more weaken the stranglehold? Will the USA ever manage to get from under the heel of the all conquering annihilating Brits and their allies.
Tssk ... this is shameful rousing talk and not designed to incite patriotism or war. Remember ... no one takes this war seriously.
Well .. the losers might but I happily and tactfully breeze on to the next battle.
The Survivor
The USA fielded 10 daring-do troopers who snatched 2556 points = 35%
The UK & Co sent 19 death machines into the fray and snatched 4862 points = 65%
The UK & Co won the October Survivor battle .. by a 30% margin.
I gnaw my fishy bottom lip and refrain from comment and remain silent. This is known as the skill of the diplomat.
Final result, rattled off my abacus, for the two battles.
UK & Co won the October 2013 battle!
USA = 40.5%
UK & Co = 59.5%
Three cheers for the victors! Hip hip hooray! And have a drink on moi, Pengy, down at your local pub tonight.
After reverently folding and putting the Stars & Stripes back in mothballs I shall shake out the Union Jack in readiness to be proudly lofted up the flagpole.
As a naturally gifted military tactician on a par with Pershing , Eisenhower and Montgomery and Wellington, I ponder if and how my American buddies can stem the onslaught of the magnificent UK & Co?
I think .... yes.
I think ... the Survivor battle ground is the key. I see brave valiant Americans flattened under the heel of superior numbers ... I see 10 Americans ..... 19 UK ... and to me this signifies something vitally important.
I have it! More splints and bandages for my American friends!
So now I shall gird my fishy loins and toddle off to stand on the side lines of the Survivor, with my medical kit at the ready .... and exchange civilised polite chat with our two Smorgasbord hosts.
Mmm..... a cheeseburger for me please Qmel if there's one going spare. Afterall, someone has to test for performance enhancing drugs! And ... has the pie and mash gone off by now martin cube? Scraps will do, I'm no connoisseur and not fussy as long as there's brown sauce.
A special thanks to these two guys for providing the food and the enjoyable wit .... and I include K-Dog1 in this too. I'm impressed by your extensive knowledge of music! It's great fun. I love the banter.
This camaraderie is what has made the quizzes so longlasting .. and such good fun ... and more than just a daily quiz. Thank you to everyone who plays every day and helps keep it going.
Right ... les fraternising. More war talk.
Everyone shrug into your combat gear and wade into the fray ....

Didn't Montgomery design the unmitigated disaster known as Operation Market Garden?
