Getting good..getting interesting....a late show of strength from the USA...
When the going gets tough..the tough get going and all that.
Can't help but notice that this months Daily Dervish award..that's to say who swiped most wins could be a close run thing. Already have jules44 and midgetmark tied on 6 wins each. Now...if miffy can just nab another win today...yikes...we'd have a three-way tie. No worry...that's when I get to rattle my abacus in high tech arbitraton mode. Technology does'nt faze me!
My favourite Challenge player was purelyqing...romped in 7th and pushed beyond the pain barier to hit a PB. To think too he was incognito when he/she first arrived...playing cagey..undercover...allegiance unknown and suspected of been a mercenary. So well done purelyqing.
I reckon there's loads of players getting nicely warmed up for next battle...waiting in the wings to storm in. A word here about the big guns...

Now nothing is a dead cert this month...yep..you guessed...miffy is clinging to his throne...but with the narrowest of leads...25 points....cor...will he be able to fend off jules44 or will he finally be deposed? This one is going to go right down to the wire.
Will jules get a double on the Challenge and the Mogul? Will unconquerable miffy be conquered? Or...come next month will they just agree amicably to swop titles for a change. Will the americans let this go on? Or are the SWAT team aligning themselves ready now? This kinda of logistics keeps me lying wake at night...brain busily engaged...wishing I was a fly on the wall at american HQ.

Just had a sneaky peek over the parapet...gee...what happened to strnog1 on the Challenge...2541 seconds is an amazing speed record. A UK ambush? A dodgy broadband hiccup?
I must say Pix is playing well on both quizzes. Pix is one of the Unmentionables who I think is destined for future fame here...along with others whose names will remain unspoken....for now....whose day will come. I have a habit of jinxing things so no names will be uttered. Just coded initials.

Everyone trapped in their trenches...battlefield cloaked in fog. War can be like that...expect the unexpected....be prepared for anything.
Once the miasma lifted...crumbs...did you all come storming back into action or what?.
My favourite Challenge player was bernie73....pretty good wrestling a fourth place out of the mayhem. I have high hopes next month of bernie73 and a few other recent recruits. Won't say who...don't want to bestow the infamous penguin Kiss of Death. Speaking of which...jules44 has won 2 days on the trot now...nothing special about that....I'm zipping my jinxed beak...
With only nano-days to go I 've got to applaud the fighting spirit of
chipownz USA V burnsbaron UK....
And hemisphere USA V OldSpotPig UK....all slogging it out to the bitter end. Points is points and every single one counts...

And the Mogul
Yesterdays Crafty Animal Mogul was miffy42#2 UK

There were big changes afoot the day before yesterday but we missed it in the confusion ...well almost missed...my radar vision detected a change of leadership on the Mogul. Brief...transitory...with the status quo restored by today. MIFFY42...unconquerable Mogul Maximus extraordinaire had the lead filched by jules44. Cor...crumbs....flippin heck. Then I blinked...and miffy42 had wrestled back control.
Bet that got your adrenalin pumping miffy....oh the ignominy and shame. Is it tough balancing on that precarious throne? Is a 20 point lead enough...this is going to be a close shave.
Just swung my telescope around to train on the Mogul run...and whey hey..there goes miffy scorching past in super sonic hyperdrive...in the lead...hurdling obstacles...
but....
hm..no jules on the course yet. If jules comes anywhere in the top 10 could get nasty...and then you'll both have to run the gauntlet again tomorrow. I sympathize I really do....so in sensitive, tactful respect I'll get a black armband ready for the loser of this hotly contested inter UK scrap. Melodramatic? Not at all..it will cut me deeply that one of you will get trounced.
Add to that WorldB USA V Maggie UK...and...a whole host of cross-atlantic duels still rampaging. The Mogul is often fiercer and tougher....gives me palpitations just watching...spend most of my life now hyperventilating and blowing into a brown paper bag....tried plastic..not recommended.

Right I'm off to referee on the Mogul today...and in the spirit of Goodwill to All Humans, I've brought some treats for my donation to the buffet table. Anyone like kippers?

It was 2 in a row for mos623....glory was snatched from him and USA by miffy42. Miffy42 is never far away and eager to whizz up that flagpole, Union Jack draped over his back.
My favourite Challenge player was ...well just had to be thereds4ever romping home in 5th and a PB too. Have to clap the little flippers and give a round of applause for that. Mind...have to give an appreciative clap for QueenMary too...matched her PB and won a 10th spot.
That ain't easy to do here you know. Coming in the top 50 rates a mammoth achievement. But then you would'nt be here if you expected an easy ride....not my talented toughies....and friends.
Take Stuhern and BB1...do they take a breather?...no way..ferocious fisticuffs there....and looks like Stuhern won the day. But can BB1 comeback? Whose mouse will prove fitter and deadlier in the long run?
Avin Itoffski and poolosopher are squaring up now...and elamcs is tanking along behind...coming to boost the USA offensive. Will have to watch that one...must'nt miss a thing.
And feeble-sage...get them running shoes on....there's loads of abandoned trenches and deserted posts ripe for pillage and plunder around you. This is where the deserters fled from...came, saw and were conquered.

And the Mogul?
Yesterdays Movie Mogul was mos623#1 USA

Just a minute...won the wrong quiz. But a win is a win...especially when you can fend off jules44 cleaved to your shin bones. And is consistently shaving away at his speed. I've noticed...I miss nothing. You know...americans are pretty good at Movies....10 out of top 15 were our american friends.
My favourite Mogul player had to be Turnbaby...has a 75% hit rate when it comes to bagging bonus goodies. One of the best USA moguls without a doubt.

Just had a note from one of my penguin aide de camps....Wetherby Pond is running riot on the Challenge....has thrashed miffy42 and mos623 who has got ambushed by a horde of UK & Co and is going down fighting....Aw shucks....do you think I should get out there in my capacity as gormless referee? But well done Wetherby...hope you can cling on like a limpet.
AND General mos623 is stranded and cut off on the Mogul too. Dear me...Where are the american contingent today? I must say well done Stu and OldSpotPig ...so far.

I just have to say the americans are really storming home thesedays...but will it be too late to avert diasater and national shame by Judgement Day. On the otherhand...it could mean...UK don't get complacent...next month could be a real testy tug-of-war. USA have some flipping good players and more have joined this year..threatening looking troopers with determined faces and the brains and speedy mice to back it up. Over last 7 days...USA have won 4. Say no more.
Me...the pacifist penguin..I'm on the sidelines...itching to jump into the fray if things get too fraught and outta hand. Can happen...tension is high...so is the adrenalin. Swivel your eyes to the right...that's me...remember
my face and don't mistake me for an antagonist. Accidents can happen ....
My favourite Challenge player was...I've excelled myself today ..there's a horde of them deserving of acclaim
and honour.
They're all americans aswell...no coincidence...no favouritism.
They're just playing so well...all of them...Top 10 had 6 americans in...mos623 the missile...chipownz...unranked and deserves fame and celebrity status...elamcs, also unranked and that says heaps about the calibre of the american team,.....Qmel, now here's one to set the snipers onto if ever I saw a nasty future threat in the making....hemisphere, also unranked...don't believe this. If this the new USA talent this is awesome.... strnog1, ranked....one of the american best players.
Now if you're UK & Co...I'm harping on about this for a reason...it's a covert coded warning of imminent future strife and strafing across the battlefield.
Noticed everyones hunkering down in their trenches now...keeping their heads down.
Except for Stuhern UK V BB1 USA...private duel raging here...my moneys on...hmn....hard to say....but with burnsbaron UK and chipownz USA within striking range but engaged in their own battle anything can happen.

And the Mogul?
Yesterdays History Mogul was midgetmark#4 UK

Well done little midget...that's 2 days in a row. My favourite Mogul player was Stuhern....he got a PB, clever little critter...and that makes him special to a penguin....and out of the last 17 days play he's nabbed bonus goodies on 14! Is that consistently good? Or is that consistently good? Not many off days there hey.
A quick peek over the parapet....and aw...no three in a row for mos623...victory and fame has been cruelly swiped by miffy42...infact the USA are struggling..
.but they're still all probably in bed just now....
And the Mogul? Ah..there they all are. Mos623 and his deputies have ambushed Stuhern....and cat brat63 is armed with sticky buns. Time for me to bob off there...go skewer my dinner....you did'nt think the sword and shield were for anything too dangerous did you?

My..it's getting fractious and fearsome. Another win for the USA, courtesy of the human missile. Once mos623 moves into supersonic mode there's just no stopping him. Will all this glory be enough to swing things back the USA way. The countdown timer is remorselessly ticking away. Not many days left to go now. 5 after today.
My favourite Challenge player had to be...aw...a toughie tie between chipownz...bernie73 and lg549. Heck...you're all too good...too hard to pick so I'm having all of you. Executive decision time.
Tell you what is getting dead interesting...Top rankings time...dead tight...dead good and the stuff that makes penguins jump for joy.

Yesterdays People Mogul was midgetmark#4 UK

My favourite Mogul was Dr Gas...had to be..not only won a PB but has won bonus goodies for the last four days on the trot...and right now...bonus goodies are worth more than gold ingots. You're doing fab..well done.
Have to give a snort of admiration to ryaman too...got a PB...came in at 19 secs. That is seriously good but I noticed no one has managed to smash either of the speed records this month...not even midgetmark who set them. Still...14 seconds is pretty amazing stuff.
I had heard tantalizing rumours of 13 secs been done elsewhere...elsewhen...aw well. I'm patient I can wait....until one day I can brag one of my little human friends brought The UK Versus USA eternal FT infamy and notoriety.

But now...I'm ordering the stretcher teams out on duty...mos the missile is living dangerously and disrupting the UK ranks again...and is surely going to get lynched.

Sorry I was AWOL yesterday...but enough of that...we have a feisty cross -atlantic war to resolve and there's not too many days fighting left before Judgement Day. Our american contingent were doing well...but the UK & Co must...I guess.. have had enough and decided to reclaim the flagpole.
My favourite Challenge player was Eebs....got a PB and a PB the day before that too. Gee...day before that she was AWOL....not complaining...can't complain...Penguins have been known to do it too....else it could have meant the firing squad.

Are tensions running high now months end is drawing nigh?

Top of the table...amongst the Toughies we have strnog1 USA V Mink UK...oooh...could be a close one...except ryaman is charging up behind to try and swing it the USA way. USA peptalk: Can you 2 handle Mink? UK peptalk:Best of British Mink ...as they say.

But the big blitz could be this one...Alert: WizardOfOz ....lunabelle...
onebraincellUK...and teanana...can see you're defending your trench admirably...the barbed wire barricade is fab though not sure if electrified is on the rules...but ohfun1 and alien8 have been detected with wirecutters and are about to launch an american offensive.

Well done Pix...and a PB in the bag aswell. My favourite Mogul player ...just had to be ncb1gdog...first day blitzing down the Mogul this month and swiped bonus goodies...easy peasy. Welcome back...ncb1gdog...I wondered where you'd gone. I think this is strategic stuff...secret team tactics...the americans have been sneaking in all month...calling up the reservists ready for a full-on engagement next month.
How do I know this...do I have an underground network of spies...yes...but it could be because we have new recruits for the USA.

3 sneaked in under cover of darkness...wearing camouflage...heavily armed and dangerous...so I'll say a big Hello and Welcome to the War to goldbob....argentum and milamtexan. Your country needs you....The UK are thrashing you...oops...lost my usual diplomacy and tact there. Can't help it...it's so exciting. Wonder if they've realised there's a Mogul event too....
I missed congratulating Miffy42#2 UK yesterday, and that hurt..so I'll do it now. Congrats miffy ...undisputed Mogul Maximus on winning 3 days in a row. No one else has managed to do that this month the competitiion is so fierce.
A quick peek over the parapet...and...mos623 has chained himself to the Challenge flagpole and is proving hard to dislodge. At this point have to admit to a surge of dreadful excitment ...argentum..the new USA sniper is looking like a force to be reckoned with. Have you seen him/her UK? Is this the argentum..one and the same..ranked 49th on Fun Trivia. Woweeee...
And on the Mogul...WorldB and mos623 are running rampage. Could be this is going to be USA day! The banana nut muffins missiles are invading the course...tripping up unwary players...getting requisitioned as bombs...I'll trot off and go salvage my tea then and settle down to watch.

Could have been three in a row....was'nt. Midget decided to take charge...so midget did...and the UK topguns formed an unbeatable advance to regain ownership of the flagpole. WorldB managed to infiltrate their defences...but was the only one.
My favourite Challenge player was fat woman9 ....won herself a PB and is really coming on...Well Done there...
Just have to mention MentalMidget aswell though...for another PB...there's some spirited USA players out there who just never give up and keep coming back...
So how goes the trench warfare...
Remember magijoh1 UK V strnog1 USA....I warned strnog1 might recuperate...pick himself out of the mud. Well he did..and he teamed up with ryaman and both ganged up on magijoh1 and swept past.
BB1 USA and Stuhern Uk are locked tight and giving no quarter...Stuhern has nudged ahead...for now. This one could go on till the next millenium dawns.
Elamcs USA decisively beat up Queen Mary and Wetherby Pond and romped off victorious.
StinkyPudden is turning into a force to be reckoned with. Beat silvertop..took on mfc and...is winning...threatening to target Quiz Beagle next...and teaming up with MentalMidget...yeh...the super duper player I already mentioned.
Wakazawaka won his duel and is heading off up toward the foothills of Olympus.
Alert: Be careful Deborah and Turnbaby...can you hear his footfalls behind? Well he's coming...so load your weapons ready.
Now this is the messy one....a real international gladiatorial conflab...
Players involved are NEWSoUSA USA ...LanaDale USA ...muldoon0000 USA..V jacky UK....blackprinceUK...AND a sneaky flank attack
from castortroy USA...and RosaRita unless BrillBrit UK can stop the intended ambush. It's a lot to ask...but with a name like that...we can hope for a miracle.

Again? Yes...again. And need to send out an alert here. Maggie......look in your rearview mirror...WorldB is up your bumper. Take care there. My favourite Mogul player was bernie73...getting pretty canny at nabbing bonus goodies is bernie.Consistency...that's good...I admire that.
Have to say though....this newcomer mikew41 has style too...and must'nt forget babygirl another intriguing little mover. Some players settle in dead fast...these two have...watch them...I am.
Tasty treat is cookies today...nice. I'll munch whilst I watch..thanks cat brat63.

My favourite Challenge player was nakarinna..PB for nakarinna...well done! and romped in in the top 10 too.
I was having a peep last night to see who our MOP players are so far this month...yeh, them there dedicated determined troopers who have climbed up the rankings this month...who fight with knuckle dusters...not velvet gloves...cos they're hungry for success! Yeh...the high achievers.
Remember...end of month Top 10 Mops get listed for eternal fame in the Hall of Flame and get to live on the lower ledges of Olympus. And ain't that infamy worth fighting for.
So many of you are so good the honours list is pretty long....and makes pretty interesting reading.
Congratulations to all of you mentioned here...
But first...a moments reverent silence for these giants...the top 10...did you just feel a quiver of fear run down your spine? I did...they're so frightening good.

Yesterdays Great Geography Mogul was miffy42#2 UK

It's my spiffy miffy again. Nabbed 9 wins now has miffy. I'm seriously doubting there's anyone...from anywhere can thieve miffy's crown.
My favourite Mogul was....mikew41...Who I hear you ask? Tattoo the name on your forehead...it's a newcomer. Is this beginnners luck? A fluke? Could he upset the miffy quo? (status quo). First days whizzing down the Mogul and already scored bonus goodies for the UK....now that's attention grabbing and made me sit up straight with wonder.
So I'll welcome mikew41 properly...Hiya there...and not to be outdone we have a new recruit for the USA too. A warm welcome to moonlight. Hope you both like it here..and can stand the punishment. It's tough...but friendly fun.

I just peeked over the parapet...double vision tells me miffy42 is leading both quizzes! Yeh...it's true...Go miffy...go...keep running...someone is bound to try to take you down! The USA will have a bounty on your head by now!..NO...not a bar of chocolate...a bounty!

Well...what a convincing win by america. 1st...2nd...3rd..can't argue with that. UK you got blitzed. WorldB chained himself to that flagpole and refused to be budged...with help from the missile..mos623 and ryaman. Must say ryaman you're turning into a super trooper...Bet you'll be ranked this time next month.
My favourite Challenge player was Wetherby Pond....romped home in 10th and scored a PB. I always like courageous troopers who give their all.
For those of you who read the Top Toughies...you might notice I've extended it to include the top 25 now. Wanted to brag about more of you...wanted to...decided to...did it. I reckon anyone who can battle into the top 25 is something special.
So any developments on the trench warfare? Any victories...any surrenders in the private duel stakes?
magijoh1 UK V strnog1 USA...hmmn...think magijoh1 is champ there but...never write strnog1 off...is hanging on in there and could come back.
BB1 USA is winning the upperhand against Stuhern UK...but same again...Stuhern is good....very good...and keeping him down will be hard...and he never surrenders. And burnsbaron is still riding in backup position.
elamcs USA beat QueenMary UK but Wetherby Pond UK...brave guy...has taken up the gauntlet and is in hot pursuit.
TAKROM USA got the upperhand over Quiz Beagle UK
StinkyPudden USA bested Silvertop UK and cheeky, confident thing is chasing after mfc UK now! Poor mfc is already distracted duelling with Qmel USA
And just ahead of them MentalMidget USA and wakazawaka UK are locked in mortal combat. Can see a multiple pile-up forming here. It'll be a case of stretchers at the ready.
And NEWSoUSA USA & muldoon0000 USA ganging up on jacky UK is threatening to turn into a messy affair.....castortroy USA is joining in the ambush ...hey...that's called ganging up...wait...WizardOfOz UK and blackprinceUK are storming in aswell. Ah...that's more like it...a fair fight!
Must say some of these individual fights are rough stuff....quite frightening to a timid penguin who faints at sight of human blood.

Yesterdays Magnifico Movie Mogul was midgetmark#4 UK

Our little midget is back on form....and Movies must catch out a lot of you cos there was only 18 Moguls won bonus goodies . If you're one of them...pat yourself on the back. My favourtie Mogul was alien8....doing very well grabbing bonus goodies for america...a few more troopers of his calibre and the USA could swing it around. Just a passing thought...I've been wondering...what did alien ate? or eat? Or does he mean alienate? This ambiguity bothers me ....it's one of those great unresolved mysteries of Life....that keep me lying awake nights.
Another thought occurs to me...it's time to rattle my abacus and see who's our best MOP so far this month...which recruits are playing best...fiercest and hardest...who scramble back out of the muddy trenches and masochistically jump back in for more punishment! Yes...I mean...self-improvement!
I think I'll toddle off....pitch my picnic rug on the mogul sidelines and get to it.

Wow...was just about to drape the Star & Stripes back over my bed...no can do now...might be drafted back into service sooner than I thought. My...this will be interesting...
Oh...and the undercover/mercernary/incognito loose cannon...called purelyging has declared his/her allegiance. So Welcome to the War purelyqing...I can include your points now. That's another Commonwealth ally for the UK. Must say...the Commonwealth are a brave lot and an asset to the team. Good players they are.

Yes...it's true. America won...and won both tournaments too incase anyone doubted and disbelieved they are a force to be reckoned with. Congrats to hemisphere for a fab win...hope you're not too badly bruised from the rough and tumble.
My fave Challenge player just had to be hemisphere...but I noticed a few others earned fame and good fortune yesterday. Take Seurat...won himself a 5th spot....not easy to do here where the toughest slog it out everyday. And thereds4ever was pretty impressive too...along with MentalMidget who I reckon is improving by the day. Such talent...such panache...not to mention a few brains to brag about! Good innit.
Right...I was having a peek at the Challenge rankings...the Top Toughies....ages to go yet till months end but I love having a gander at these things....logistics is fun.
Way things are going...and won't stay I'm sure...these could be the new Invincibles and Fearsome Ones for each side

I'm tempted to fly the Stars & Stripes twice ...well done there. This is better. This is the yanks at their most deadly and effective. My favourite Mogul was ...you've guessed have'nt you...it was tihata. Reckon the USA HQ ought to promote him to general. And look what I found on my web travels...

Time for a peek over the parapet....safety goggles are on..check...bulletproof vest...check..and this I like....General tihata is currently leading the american assault on the Challenge...not so on the Mogul...UK are nabbing all the topspots there. And I'd like to say Hiya to babygirl...another USA reservist who's come back to stiffen USA resistance. Good. Glad to have you back.

Well...things are hotting up some. The americans top Generals got in there. If the UK & Co are vulnerable to attack ...it's on the Challenge. Both sides have flippin good players......talking of which my favourite Challenge player was...I got more than one again. Don't blame me! It's hard to decide. Well you had to admire Howie72 for sneaking in there...and a mention for Seurat too....who got a pretty convincing PB. Congrats there Seurat... And then there was shadowzep...with another PB. They're coming thick and fast now...always do on the toughest tournament on Fun Trivia. So that's 3 faves...and I'm not apologizing...don't care...think you're all fab.
Any skirmishes on the go?
Oh yes...first make room for chipownz USA and mhallesy UK. Give them a wide berth, steer round them or you could get hit by the flak.
Then there's OldSpotPig UK (our reigning MOP) and Turnbaby USA on course for a headon collision.
Alert: Steer around the trench where paper_aeroplane UK and kwd42co USA are trading punches.
Right that's 3 duels...will keep you posted on the 3 victors and 3 casualties. Teams of penguin medics are already loitering on the edges of the battlefield.

Yeh...someone , at long last has toppled miffy42...but can jules cling onto first place. Is it a case of tactics...passing the UK baton over to a team mate. Does miffy42 need to get his second wind. Tactics? A penguin does'nt understand these things. How vexing.
The american Lone Ranger is doing fine...only a measly 100 or so points behind and he's good...he's more than good. Needs to be until some backup arrives. Don't know why I even suggested that the UK might manage to kick WorldB out the top 10. Laughable idea.
A few nippy Moguls caught my admiring eye yesterday. Had to cheer Wilberforce Dumblebum for a fine effort ...and a very respectable 3rd spot in the dasterdly anarchy called the Mogul. But poolosopher won a PB ...and that always earns a round of applause from me. But I was pretty awed by Qmel and greenkiwi too....so that's 4 faves.

A quick peek over the parapet for a live commentary and WorldB is in first...attacking the flapole with an axe...trying to remove the Union Jack! Now that's gritty determination for you. Miffy42 in third can't stop him...Cor...tell jules44 to get here quick! That Union Jack lives there now..removal could bring great shame...point of pride ya know.
And the Mogul? Oh well done tihata and good luck.. hang on there, bare your teeth, growl and don't be afraid to try and frighten the enemy....might work.
