Well...TAKROM certainly surprised us all yesterday (except us experienced old hands who had spotted a topclass player and were just waiting for the stealthy pounce!)

Congratulations to TAKROM for reasserting American supremacy!

It's the last day of this months play folks....and there's still rankings to decide and fight over...top 15 remember!

For the individuals well..at 5 points behind hovenaut, can magijoh1 steal top place in the eleventh hour? If hovenaut's on form...definitely NOT. We'll have to wait in suspense for this one. And JJay UK at only 2 points behind MaggieG who is sunning herself somewhere on holiday could nab a 4th place here too!

On a lighter note....OBC has reported to me that Marsalinator has started team coaching from the shout box.....well...OBC...what do you expect? You do enough caterwauling and stirring as UK mascot! No rules have been infringed on either side.

There...happy now? Truth is...she's grumpy cos she's finding the Global Challenge a bit tough.

It's Back Again Already! Fire those cannons in a salute!

I'm tempted to say Go Home Yanks...but I won't because MaggieG has gone on her hols (what timing!) and I suspect the fur is going to fly....and the Yanks will try to slaughter the Uk in her absence. Don't get cocky...there's still JJay Uk....Magijoh1...and mhallesy and a host of darn good players.

So yesterday came in at...

1. MaggieG UK. A true wonderwoman...virtually unbeatable I reckon.

2. hovenaut USA. The best of the USA... a real trojan...top of the leader board nearly all month!

3. Marsalinator USA. Called the cavalry and really helped bring this tournament alive! Thanks.

4. mhallesy UK. One of the Brits best hopes of defence without MaggieG.

5. Pamelia USA. Given a full months play could well get into those top 3 medal spots.

And welcome to a new conscript fighting for the USA....hello there potterfan...hope you like it here.

There will hopefully be a new UK recruit arriving today...Uk players pray to your respective Gods.

So with only 2 days left to play this month how are things shaping up? Well...hovenaut is set to get a gold medal....and he deserves it...has played consistently well and is virtually unbeatable.

magijoh1, with amazing alacrity has raced up the leaderboard and rests in second place....but with Marsalinator only 2 points behind..the Silver and Bronze are still up for grabs.

The team tournament looks set to be won by the Brits. Whoopee...(That was a restrained whoopee because I'm the Administrator therefore impartial).

And the rankings for next month are still undecided....that's the top 15 players remember will get ranked for the whole of next month. You have to be good to play in this tournament...and you're all good so I expect the rankings will change every month.

Now the chat is done...it rather looks like some nicer brighter weather is on it's way to you guys in the UK...so I'll go and have a bit of a nap in the sun.

The Yanks Are Back In Pole Position. Hovenaut Is Back!

Bit of an upset there...the Brits have gotten used to having their own way..and their own flag flying from the mast.

So yesterday came in at

1. hovenaut USA. Back on form...darn quick at scrolling and speed reading too!

2. MaggieG UK. A tremendous effort....but just unlucky..and not meant to be.

3. magijoh1 UK. The next British Musketeer! Wow....the seconds spliting these lot are miniscule!

4. mhallesey UK. The third UK Musketeer. You yanks are in big trouble with these three!

5. adumbledore40 USA. Now getting to be a regular at the top. Watch out when August comes.

Well...there were no new players for either side....so I'll breeze onto dissecting the monthly scoreboard.

Magijoh1 displaced Marsalinator and shunted him down to 3rd....aw...and that's not all...poolosopher was ejected out of the top five by MaggieG! Commiserations USA. And JJay UK was an accidental casualty too...from 3rd down to 4th.

But the nitty gritty thing here is....can magijoh1 close that 12 point lead that hovenaut has ...too late this month I reckon....but next month promises to be blood and guts..messy but fun!

Oh...and sorry about my absence yesterday...a small domestic crisis. Found a wasps nest in my loft. Yep...and it can be hard to sort on a mid-atlantic ice floe I can tell you. But normal service is now resumed.

hello there player....well...I don't like to harp on..but that Union Jack is still flying...and I know one UK player , OBC ...self-appointed mascot, is ecstatic today! She's pressing to get MaggieG and magijoh1 and mhallesy a Nobel Prize...though I'm not sure a catergory exists as such.

So what happened yesterday?

Top Five Players were;

1. magijoh1 UK. One of OBC's heroes. And now also 4th in the months table after only 9 games!

2. MaggieG UK. Always comes to the rescue in the nick of time. Famous for displacing hovenaut in style.

3. TAKROM USA. A relative newcomer and threatening the status quo.

4. adumbledore40 USA. Not been here too long..another one to watch I suspect...

5. mhallesy UK. The last of the 3 Brit Musketeers....another top gun.

And welcome to three new willing victims who joined the scrap yesterday.

Hi there....to Pagyn.....to igotmeajd......and ferfer72...all arriving to strengthen the USA ranks.

But sadly...no new UK players.....tut tut, what is the patriotic spirit coming too.

It's coming to the months end....results will soon be totted up....individual rankings and medals awarded and I bet it will all change again next month with these new exciting players arriving. Tournaments only been going a couple weeks and first the Brits dominated, then the Americans and now it's swung back to the Brits. But now USA reinforcments are here I don't think UK supremacy will last too long!

Right troops...UK and USA....stand to attention...get your sights on your enemy and get to it!

So how did the rest of the Gladiators measure up yesterday.....remember the The Day of Reckoning looms closer and draws nigh!

Congratulations are due to both TAKROM and figaro 34 for battling their way up into the top five so soon. After been swamped with new USA players a few days ago the stiff British upper lip has prevailed! 4 out of 5....is pretty conclusive in my book.

But....let's not forget hovenaut has ruled the overall score for a heck of a while...was toppled by Marsalinator...then yesterday came back to try and reserve that gold medal up for grabs at months end. We have a tie at the top folks between two Americans. Ah....don't anyone contact Marsalinator while he's away...don't spoil his holiday.

And a pat on the back for mhallesy....now only 4 niggardly points behind poolosopher. Watch out pool...you're going to be rugby tackled and demoted a place if you're not careful.

No new players for either side yesterday....Shame.

Oh...and now I've outlined how the team championship is going to work everyone fight to hang onto your own placings.....tooth and nail to the bitter end.....off the top of my head after having a quick mathematical interlude I reckon the British Team is leading and unless some significant shocks happen in the standings.....well....which team gets First Blood is virtually decided!

Enough woffling....(yes, that stupid word again) ....I'm off to watch the fun

Yes....Start Celebrating Brits....MaggieG has done it again! We have one dynamite player here!

I'm up and down that flag pole like a loon these days.

So what did yesterday bring? Well...as mentioned...MaggieG saved the day for the beleagured Brits...and beleagured is the right word.

So what can we garner from all this?

Well....the USA have won 8 days and the UK have won 8 days so far. But take out hovenaut and the other winner for America was Marsalinator. The Brits on the other hand have JJay UK....MaggieG....maggiejoh1.....BoudiceaUK and mallahesy..as UK winners... Say no more.

Nobble them two yanks and the contest is over? Maybe...maybe not. The posse of new USA players are darn good too. Time will tell.

And guys....I just have to say a special word about magijoh1 for the UK. After only 6 days play here s(he) has already carved a place up in the top five. Wow! Now that is impressive and is worthy of admiration.

Right...that's yesterday's postmortem done.....let play begin again!

Crikes Folks...yesterday was hectic...things might never be the same again

First....please...stop whatever you're doing...a moments silence whilst I hoist the Stars and Stripes....some might say where it belongs.

Certainly hovenaut thinks so and was back in style yesterday to force the issue.

So what else was new? Well JJay Uk lost top spot as Fastest Finger....hovenaut has nabbed that and also regained his leader postion on the cumulative scoreboard. Marsalinator...(yes...him again) is also closing the gap. What more can I say except it's hotting up something shocking. I have to say I have never come across so many ace players in one tournament!

But there is a consolation prize for the Brits....on a daily basis since the tournament began the Brits still lead 8/7.

I wait with bated breath to see what happens today!

Wow...it was busy yesterday....but first

Union Jack flying for the third consecutive day...thanks to a fantastic score (and unbeatable time) from mhallesy.

The tournament has only been going for a fortnight and I think the interest is pretty good and the calibre of the players ....well...impressive would be an understatement.

So who were the top 5 yesterday gunning for?

1. mhallesy UK Who is certainly stamping their mark!

2. MaggieG UK Yesterday's winner and has only played twice!

3. Marsalinator USA The only American to reach this lofty level yesterday....watch him.

4. JJay UK UK A consistent high scorer....the Brits highest ranked player!

5. magijoh1 UK Another Titan pretty quickly making their mark.

well...in the overall leaderboard for July there were no changes of position. JJay UK reined in hovenaut....only 3 points between them now. Will today see hovenaut toppled from his throne...he's got rather comfy on it and will be hard to shift.

Marsalinator and poolosopher running at 3rd and 4th respectively are only 2 points apart...hmn...potential for infighting there. But as a USA dynamic duo they're stretching out a fair gap to 5th place.

The newcomers can't catch this lot....but tactically they can nick points from the yanks and help JJay. Gee, if this is anything to go by August will be bonecrunching stuff and not for the fainthearted!

And finally...before today's fray begins I'd like to welcome two new USA combatants straight from the Delta Force... with a name like patriot19 we ought to expect trouble....and PaulDrake put in a good show for a first timer. So Welcome to you two guys or gals. More USA combatants are much needed.

Oh dear....what can I say.....the brits are darn good and impressive......but....the yank dynamic duo came storming back yesterday to stamp their supremacy.


Just what is it going to take to dislodge hovenaut! And then there is Marsalinator too ...and poolosopher...


Don't want to demoralize you brits but the stars and stripes is still there. That's six days in a row they've won. OBC is getting miffed and aggresive....and raring for a fight.


Look at it this way... hovenaut has got to have an off day sooner or later. A bit of repetitive strain injury in his scrolling finger...or a glitch in his broadband connection who knows? Nations have been toppled by smaller things.

Well...yesterday saw a few momentous changes...and for the UK the bad news was worse than the good news was great!

For the 5th day in a row we had a USA win! That is b****y good! Congratulatuons on yet another win hovenaut.

Congratulations too to the USA for stealing the lead in the overall stakes!

So what can the UK salvage from this disaster? Well.....all is not lost....

At long last the US dominating dynamic duo of hovenaut and Marsalinator was broken! (I won't warn that poolosopher is creeping sneakily up the table.)

Thanks to the new UK player londoneye for helping stem the yank advance.

and welcome too to datrivialist from the USA...who also for a first timer got a whopping good score.

So as I sit here enjoying a very tasty bacon butty(and go hang my cholesterol levels) I wonder which leviathan is ever going to manage to dislodge hovenaut! Certainly OBC for the UK is raring mad to get that stars and stripes down and the union jack back up! A bit excitable she is....but it takes all sorts.

And Fitz...where are you? Now more than ever your country needs you!

16 th July Shout Box

Gee...folks...it's the same flag again for the fourth day on the trot. after eight days play we have four wins for each side.
Yesterday hovenaut did it again...and in gladitorial style too I might add. Talk about a fast finger...s(he) must be powered with rocket fuel!
Two players ducked out yesterday aswell...hope they're okay. poolosopher and Fitz...your respective countries need you!
And we had a new competitor sign up to join the fray. Welcome to soulsurvivor USA. Nothing too prophetic in that name then. No, I'm not superstitious. And anyway the spelling is different...could so easily have meant a nice piece of grilled fish.
There's still a lot of scrapping at the top of the table....JJay UK....our revered champ since the tournament began has hovenaut snapping at his heels! However the rest of the UK herd are galloping to the rescue to help their beleagured champ.....watch out for blackprinceUK...he's starting to find his feet. Remember Crecy!
So will today see the end of UK rulership!
And both sides....ask your mates to come play...we could do with more numbers.

Well....that flag hasn't changed.....three days it's been up there now and I can see some birds starting to nest in it!
Congratulations to Marsalinator for yesterdays win! Epic stuff....those questions were hard! Glad I don't play.
Now...things are hotting up in the overall table. Some jostling and jockeying for position is going on behind the scenes.
JJay Uk is safe...for now.
But everyone keep an eye on poolosopher he moved up 2 places in the ranking. A real dark horse and tactical player that one.
And a word for the self styled Uk mascot (who can be a pain but we indulge her). She managed to get back in the top 5....despite moaning and complaining. Don't ever let her win...we'll never hear the last of it! oh...her name....OBC

Well...the dynamic american duo have done it again!

Congratulations to hovenaut...yesterdays winner.

I reckon there could be a big UK sigh of relief that Marsalinator has only just started playing....but to be fair Fitz had problems yesterday. So what can the UK do today to dislodge these two giants from riding roughshod over everyone?

Well... at this point I'll say welcome to a new UK player....Welcome polaris.....get stuck in! Thrash those yanks! Virtually anything goes here....even subs and missiles! (I make no apologies for stirring up patriotism).

I might also mention that the USA players are outnumbered. But what the heck!

And boudiceaUK set a fastest finger individual record of 26 seconds......beat that!

A darn good show yesterday from our american cousins.......but can they keep it up?
Very exciting it was too....with a new UK player registering. Welcome to blackprinceUK...and too a new USA player...Marsalinator (where do they get these names?) who stormed in like the cavalry.
Shall pop back throughout the scrummage and scrapping to add my thoughts.
This is a bad day for the UK team......as I pound the keyboard with my flippers 9.20pm BST, Fitz, one of the UK greats has had a major setback....blame Tiscali. Remember folks...don't go with them then...they're naff. Friday the 13th has picked Fitz!
Balancing here on my ice floe is becoming tricky.....the sea swell is horrendous today...and there are droves of filthy rain clouds travelling to the UK. No summer for the brits this year.

Well...it's another days play folks. And what can I say....diplomatically.
The Union Jack is hoisted yet again!

But....and this is just a passing thought....now I don't want anyone to take this the wrong way but I'm wondering whether to take my star spangled banner back to the shop and see if I can get a refund. I haven't had to hoist it once yet! Sorry you yanks.....but really you are rather leaving poolosopher stranded alone in enemy territory here. And if it's any consolation he is putting up a stiff fight....I'll get the next body bag out ready shall I?

Well....I'm just practising folks...am rather new to blogging though it looks darn good fun! Hey....and I'm doing it so you can have somewhere to chat if you want someplace that is a bit bigger.
